Fall premiers I'm looking forward to
The season of fall premiers has arrived. Here are just a handful that I personally am looking forward to, in no particular order.
Fringe FRI 9/23 9:00 FOX
Fringe is my number one favorite TV show of all time. Fringe is a science fiction series in the vain of The X-Files. The series, which was created by J.J. Abrams of Lost and Star Trek fame, is entering its fourth season. The series follows FBI agent Olivia Dunham, mad scientist Walter Bishop, and his son Peter Bishop. The series has a long backstory involving alternate universes so I would suggest checking out the first season if you're new to the series, otherwise the plot might leave you a bit lost. At the end of the last season, Peter seemingly erased himself from existence trying to save both universes from destruction so the premier should hopefully answer some lingering questions.
House MON 10/3 9:00 FOX
I'm going to go ahead and assume that anyone reading this has heard of House. House is a series that focuses on eponymous Dr. Gregory House, a medical genius who is pretty much an asshole. House is entering into its eighth and, according to rumors, final season. At the end of the last season, House crashed his car into Chief of Medicine and former lover Lisa Cuddy's house and then went running off to a beach somewhere. The new season is set to see House sent to jail. Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy) has left the series while Odette Annable (formerly Yustman) of Cloverfield and Charlyne Yi of Knocked Up will be joining the series.
Community THU 9/22 8:00 NBC
Community is a comedy series revolving around a group of students attending community college in Greendale, Colorado. The cast is diverse and each character really stands out so if you're looking for a new comedy series check it out.
The Office THU 9/22 9:00 NBC
The Office is returning for its eight season, and first without iconic boss Michael Scott, as Steve Carell has left the series. Last season ended with interviews being conducted to find a new regional manager to fill Michael's shoes. Of those interviewed, Robert California (James Spader of Boston Legal) has skyrocketed to the CEO position at Dunder Mifflin Sabre, still leaving the question of who will be the new regional manager. I personally was hoping Will Arnett would fill the role as a character similar to Gob Bluth from Arrested Development, but his role in the comedy series Up All Night would seem to rule that out. Jim Carrey had a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo at the end of the last season finale, so fingers crossed he'll return and get some more screen time.
Person of Interest THU 9/22 9:00 CBS
I tend to be wary of new shows on major networks as they tend to be geared toward a very wide general audience which results in many almost interchangeable programs, but this new series from J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan (Christopher Nolan's brother and co-writer on The Prestige and The Dark Knight) will hopefully bring something new to the table. This show is centered on the idea of using post-9/11 surveillance technology to prevent crimes before they happen and sees the return of Lost's Michael Emerson. I'm more interested in this show for its pedigree than anything else.
Terra Nova MON 9/26 8:00 FOX
Terra Nova is a new show that features a human colony that has time travelled back to the age of the dinosaurs. I have every expectation that this show will be terrible but wouldn't it be awesome if I were wrong?
Bones THU 11/3 9:00 FOX
Everybody's favorite forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan returns with FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth. On the seventh season of Bones, Brennan is pregnant with Booth's child and the team will be up against a new recurring villain who is said to be "more of a 21st-century tech-savvy foe" according to the show's executive producer Stephen Nathan.
The League THU 10/6 10:30 FX
As any of my friends could tell you, I have little to no interest in football, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the funniest show nobody's heard of about the members of a fantasy football league. This show is extremely raunchy, uncalled for, and quite possibly the funniest show on telivision. Seriously, if you haven't seen this show, don't even wait for the season premier. Go to hulu right now and watch it. Quit reading this and GO!
